About Temple:
The Temple is located in Devadanapatti, near Pariyakulam (Batlagundu to Periyakulam Road), Theni District, Tamil Nadu (at the foothills of Kodaikanal Hills). The uniqueness is, it has no Temple Towers, Doors or Idols. The main deity is Kamakshi Amman. The idol is replaced with a door and worshiped here and it is revered as Goddess Kamakshi. The other difference is, "whole coconut and unpeeled bananas are offered". The coconuts are broken followed by Abhishekam and after the Aarthi. Usually, in most of the temples, coconuts are cut in to two pieces before aarthi. A lot of rituals are different in this temple. A ghee lamp that was lit some 500 years ago and is still glowing. Devotees offer mainly ghee and the ghee storage room has no doors. Some of the pots in this storage are as old has 500 years and do not attract any insects either.
